What's included in this service

Packing and unpacking is a hands-on service built around preparation, labeling, and room-by-room execution. Crews arrive with the packing supplies needed for the job and work according to the instructions shared by the customer, while staying mindful of time and material usage.

The service can include packing before the move, unpacking at destination, and removal of discarded packing material. When arranged in advance, teams can also bring specialty supplies such as mattress bags, wardrobe boxes, TV boxes, or art boxes.

  • Packing materials brought by the crew for the work being completed
  • Packing and labeling room by room according to customer instructions
  • Unpacking at destination according to the requested room setup
  • Removal of packing material the customer wants discarded
  • Billing only for the materials actually used, with unused supplies taken back
  • Specialty supplies such as mattress bags, wardrobe boxes, TV boxes, or art boxes when noted in advance
  • Furniture disassembly and reassembly when included as part of the move, similar to residential moving

What's not included in this service

Packing and unpacking does not automatically include every ancillary task around the home. Appliance disconnection, TV unmounting, cleaning, and certain specialty setup tasks should not be assumed unless they were explicitly added to the booking.

For anything beyond a very small unit or a single room, customers should also expect the work to be staged across more than one day. In many cases, day one is packing, move day is separate, and unpacking follows afterward if requested.

  • Standard appliance unplugging or disconnection
  • TV unmounting and remounting unless separately arranged
  • Cleaning services
  • Custom crating or specialty handling that was not approved in advance
  • Full-home packing completed in a single day for larger moves unless the estimate specifically allows for it

How pricing works for this service

Packing and unpacking are billed by the hour, plus the cost of materials used. For larger homes, the service is often split across two or more days, with packing, moving, and unpacking treated as separate labour phases.

Hourly labour plus materials

Customers are charged for the time required to pack or unpack and for the packing materials actually used on the job.

Packing time often mirrors moving time

As a rule of thumb, if an estimate calls for a three-person crew for eight hours to complete the load and unload, it may take a similar three-person packing crew roughly eight hours to complete the packing portion.

Multi-day planning is common

Unless the project is very small, professional packing is often staged over multiple days so the work can be completed carefully without rushing the move itself.

Packing material is charged separately by unit, while labour follows the same hourly moving logic used for the move itself.
