Does MoveMate offer protection? What if there are damages?

All moving companies in our network are covered for a minimum of 1 million dollars in liability, and 25 thousand dollars for cargo. These coverage protect the moving company in case anything out of the ordinary should happen during the move. Should any damage happen to your belongings, you can fill out a claims form with us or the moving company. While the basic coverage in the moving industry is 60 cents per pounds of broken item, most movers will offer to fix or repair the brokoen furniture when possible. Please make sure to submit your claims form as soon as possible after the move to ensure promt resolution. In addition, in most cases, your current renter or home liability insurance covers any damages to your belongings during your move. Our Moving Company partners are professional movers who are involved with MoveMate and are trained in the best and safest methods to move your items safely. Unfortunately, accidents do happen at times.

Do you sell boxes and offer packing services?

Yes, you can purchase boxes and packing material directly with us. Please notify us in advance, and the moving company will bring them on moving day. Full packing and unpacking services are also very common, and need to be purchased in advance. Movers will bring all the required material, pack your belongings and start loading the same day for a small move, or on another scheduled date for larger moves. Do you dispose of old furniture/appliances?

MoveMate can definitely help you with disposing of your old furniture or appliances. We kindly ask that you include this request in the notes section of your booking, found on your summary page. Please note that you may be subject to additional charges depending on the details of your request.

Are you for residential moves only?

No. MoveMate offers office movers, senior residence and downsizing moving services, apartments and condo moves, etc. We can also help you transporting an item from one location to another. Bought furniture at a store that has insane shipping prices, or something from Kijiji that is too big to carry home by yourself? We can help.

Are there any hidden fees or transaction costs when booking through MoveMate?

MoveMate prides itself in offering detailed and fully transparent estimates upfront, helping you avoid hidden fees or unclear or lowball guesstimates. How algorythm estimates your move requirements based on the information you provide, and all hourly and fixed rates are presented upfront. There are no transaction costs or service fee. Local taxes do apply.

What if I end up having less items than originally listed?

Our quotes are estimates, and you will only pay for the actual time your move will take, or the minimum billing time as indicated in your quote. If you have less items to move, please inform us in advance - we may be able to provide a smaller truck or fewer men, saving costs.

Can I change my booking?

We will always try our best to accommodate any requested changes to a booking. However, please note that there will also be extra charges, equivalent to 20% of the total cost, for any modifications to the reservation made 24 hours after booking.

What if I have to cancel due to the weather?

In cases of unexpected weather conditions that prevent the move from being completed safely, bookings will be rescheduled at no extra cost. These cases include fresh snowfall equal to or greater than 20 cm, icy rain, black ice due to very low temperatures, or temperatures below -25 C. The decision to reschedule a booking rests solely with MoveMate and is subject to MoveMate's discretion.

What is your cancellation policy?

Once a booking is placed, you have 24 hours to cancel and pay no penalties. If you cancel anytime after the first 24 hours, you will lose your deposit which is equal to 20% of your booking total. Cancellations made within the 48 hour mark of the booking date and time will be charged the remaining 80% of the booking, no exceptions. All last minute bookings, meaning bookings placed 48 hours or less before the desired time and date, are charged the full 100% of the booking estimate. No exceptions.

Do you accept long-distance booking requests?

Yes, we accept long-distance moves across Canada, throughout the United States, and for cross-border relocations between Canada and the U.S. Pricing is different from our regular bookings. Fill in our form and something will contact you.

What do you mean by real time estimates?

This one is pretty cool. For local moves, you will receive fully detailed estimates online, within a few minutes. No phone calls or email required.

How is the quote calculated?

MoveMate uses the addresses, accessibility included, and the total cubic feet of your items to calculate the real-time estimated price of your booking. In cases of last minute bookings, holidays, and rush periods, there is an automatic increase in our flat rates that will already be reflected in your estimated total.

Are there any items you cannot move?

We have not yet found an item that we cannot move, but it doesn't mean we never will! We can move pianos of all types, valuable art, pool table, sonas and spas, etc. Larger and heayvier items will require more movers, more time and more equipment, adding cost to the move. We may require photos or videos to estimate certain items. Accessibility is also important when moving a bulky item.

Do you have a minimum booking size requirement?

Minimum booking time depends on the moving partner you will select. Each one has their own policy, and will be displayed clearly. We have movers with minimum billing time set at 1 hour, but most charge a 3 hour minimum.

Where can I select add-on features?

You can select any additional features at the end of the booking process, after you have selected a date and time.

How far in advance should I be booking?

In an ideal situation, MoveMate would appreciate at least a minimum of 48 to 72 hours between when you book and the actual date of your booking. However, we still do our best to review and assign any last minute bookings that are placed. In the event that we are unable to service your requested time and date, our support team will contact you to discuss possible options. Long-distance requests should be placed at a minimum of 72 hours only as they require significantly more preparation.

Do you have a storage solution?

Yes. MoveMate offers storage as part of our moving services in every location we service. If you need storage as part of your move, let us know during booking and our team will help coordinate the right solution for your timeline and inventory.

Can I book for the truck only (no movers/mates)?

Unfortunately, we do not provide only the truck. All of our services include the labour. In situations like this, we recommend that you book for 1 Mate with a truck.

Can I change the details of my move after I have booked?

You can change the details of your move after booking by logging in to your account, and clicking on previous moves.
