When we are planning our move, jewelry is usually one of the things we need to pack more carefully. Necklaces, rings, earrings, and bracelets are delicate and fragile items that, if not packed properly, can easily break or be lost during a move. Based on our movers’ experience and expertise, here is what they recommend:
Pack the items in a shoebox or jewelry box!
If you want to locate your items quickly, assign a specific box for them. Label it and tape it so things don’t accidentally slip out when they are carried. Another great idea is to place the container inside a cabinet or drawer!
Pierce earrings through a spare cardboard sheet
The best way to pack earrings is by taking an extra piece of cardboard or foam and hooking them there. This will keep the pairs together!
Use toilet paper roll to attach necklaces and bracelets
If you don’t want a messy tangle of chains, consider taking a paper roll and looping them through it. The easiest way to detach them when you unpack!
Place rings in Ziploc bags
These are the most accessible items to pack because they don’t tangle. If you don’t have the original box, you can put all of them together in a resealable bag to save up space!
Even though our movers will pay close attention to all your items, we recommend keeping valuable pieces with you at all times. Since jewelry tends to be small, it will be easier to keep track if you place them in the bag you will carry until we reach our final destination. This will give you more peace of mind during transportation!
