When it comes to electronic appliances, there are some factors to consider before you start moving them. Unlike heavy furniture, some appliances can’t withstand pivoting and continuous movement because they might suffer internal damages. When we consider these factors, the first solution that comes to mind to avoid these issues is to slide the appliances. Although you are correct, sliding might lead to permanent scratches to the floor. We have put together a list of gadgets to help you safely move appliances while still protecting wood or vinyl flooring:

Airsled

This handy equipment is our favourite to move electronic appliances across longer distances. The mechanism works by placing two inflatable inserts under the base to glide anything easily. It not only protects your floor but it’s also gentle on the equipment during its transportation. However, purchasing this comes with an expensive price tag. Opt for renting an Airsled for a cheaper alternative.

Plastic floor guards

These are best suited for shorter moves. Simply get sliders like these and carefully place them under the frame. After, slide away with caution to your desired location. See them in action here!

Appliance rollers

These are also cheaper alternatives that can help you efficiently move any appliance. Appliance rollers are also placed under the equipment to move away quickly. The only downside is that getting them under the appliance is a tricky process. You will need assistance from friends or family to help you lift the appliance. If you are interested in this option, Canadian Tire has certified steel-grade rollers.

Slider pads

Similar to the plastic floor guards, these rubber slider pads work by carefully sliding the equipment on a smooth flooring surface like tile or wood. They are relatively inexpensive and can be left under the appliance to permanently lift it from the floor and easily clean debris under it. You can get them from Amazon here.

Hire qualified movers

Most of these options require a lot of physical effort and heavy lifting. When you have to move several appliances, hiring qualified movers might be a great option. They usually use dollies or moving carts to haul away heavy items. You can get in touch with us and get moving for as low as $45 per hour!
